A change.org petition is currently circulating with hopes to sway Disney to cast singer and actress, Coco Jones, as Tiana in a live action version of ‘The Princess and the Frog.’ However, singer Ari Lennox recently took to social media to shoot her shot for an audtion for the role.
In her post on Instagram, Ari gave us a hint of what to expect if she’s cast in the role with a phenomenal performance of “Almost There” by Anika Noni Rose. Her caption read:
“Hi @Disney I’m Ari Lennox and I would love an opportunity to audition for Princess and The Frog in person.

While Ari would not doubt be an excellent fit for the role, we can’t deny Coco’s talent. Aside from a talented singer, Coco is no stranger to the big screen, currently starring as Hilary Banks in the ‘Fresh Prince of Bel- Air’ spinoff, “Bel-Air”
While there has been no official announcement to date from Disney as to whether a live action remake of the animated fave is being consideered, fans are eager for a remake. One thing is clear–with only a few months from singer and actress, Halle Bailey’s debut as Ariel in the live action remake of ‘The Little Mermaid,’ there’s no doubt that fans want more representation of Black characters on the big screen!
