Former Beastie Boys Dj & Co-Host of Yo MTV Raps and all around Hip Hop legend, Andre Young, better known as Doctor Dre, fell down a flight of stairs on Memorial Day as he was leaving his sister’s house.
Initially believing he had a minor ankle injury, he laughed it off, but still went to see his general physician. While having his ankle tested, his doctor discovered an infection and advised Young that he needed to go to the hospital.
The infection started to eat away at his bones and Young would later discover had he waited another day to seek treatment he could have died.
Ultimately, the doctors had to amputate his leg below the calf, and after being fitted with a prosthetic foot, he went through months of physical therapy.
In 2007 Dre developed Type 2 diabetes which had already led to an amputated toe, several broken bones in his leg, and blindness.
